Female cats should be spayed by six months of age.

Spaying female cats:

  • Prevents unwanted litters
  • Protects against diseases of the reproductive system
  • Reduces the serious pet overpopulation problem
  • Prevents inconveniences to owners
  • Makes cats calmer and get along better

The Miramichi requires that you commit to spaying your pet upon adoption, should it not already be altered.

Failure to do so may result in repossession of the animal.

Molly was surrendered as a very shy stray. It didn't take Molly long to figure out staff is friendly and started looking for attention. Molly is way more confident with another feline friend around so staff are recommending she goes to a home with a friend that will help her learn to adjust to a new home way faster!

Leila has been brought back to the shelter after being adopted due to her "Sniffles".

Leila developed the cat cold when she was initially brought into the shelter and had a hard time getting rid of it. Leila left with her family who brought her to the vet a couple times but didn't get the cold under control. Leila is now back at the shelter, on a stronger antibiotic and feeling good again. Leila must go to a family who is willing to continue her care, sometimes these things can take a few months of antibiotics and lots of TLC to overcome, but it can be done. Don't let the sniffles make this girl homeless forever!
